Rally Against Cancer Unites Tennis, Celebrities, Raises A Ton Of Money & Laughs

Not even a grueling 3-set win over Marin Cilic could stop Andy Murray from participating in Rally Against Cancer, coordinated by his good friend Ross Hutchins to benefit The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. London Mayor Boris Johnson, Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Carr, Andy, Ross, Tim Henman, Sir Richard Branson, Eddie Redmayne, Michael McIntyre, Tomas Berdcyh and Ivan Lendl all took part in the exhibition at Queen’s Club.

There was a little bit of serious tennis at first with Andy and Tim against Tomas and Ivan… or was there? The event produced a lot of laughs and raised a lot of money. British Tennis also confirmed that Andy donated his Queen’s prize money (€86,300) to the cause.

Ross wrote in a piece in Daily Mail: “This event has come at a perfect time as I had my final session last week. It’s an odd coincidence as I was originally supposed to be on a three-month chemo plan. However, because the cancer had spread throughout my body and become more serious, it became six months. So my final session ended up being three days before the event. It worked out perfectly, and hopefully I’ll have the all-clear soon. It was great that my nurses, doctors and oncologist were at Queen’s. I feel strong now.”

Well done to all.

Check out highlights of all the fun:

Ivan and Andy definitely had some fun…

Pimm’s anyone? Or how about Britain’s tennis stars, past and present…

London’s Mayor Boris Johnson got in on the fun (with a wooden racquet!)…

A little fun with Tim hiding behind Michael McIntyre and Ross showed off his stuff, looking dapper as ever in Ted Baker…
