The quarterfinal match of Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Hawk-eyeRoger Federer had Fed prevailing 6-3, 6-2, but not before we saw some fun from Delpo – talking to the lines, yelling at Mo in the chair, talking to the hawk-eye screen. There were some issues with the challenge system during the match. Del Potro wanted to challenge, but the system temporarily broke down when an Internet connection was lost and data couldn’t be provided.
So Delpo decided to be his own hawk-eye. Step 1) The ball fell here. Step 2) It was this much out. Step 3) Done.
“It was clear out and the machine doesn’t work. But then the chair umpire told me he made a mistake … could be a big chance to me to change the way of the match in that game,” he said after the match.
