Check out part 2 of my trip to last night’s Taste of Tennis – Janko Tipsarevic, Vera Zvonareva and – the headliner – Mardy Fish. What can I say about these three? Janko was a pleasure to talk to, very sweet. Vera had just come from an interview at CNN so she had her makeup and hair done (with a straightener). And could Mardy Fish and his wife, Stacey, be any cuter? I chatted with Mardy about his new partnership with Bumble Bee Tuna while Nick McCarvel (of Tennis Served Fresh) chatted with Mrs. Fish on her new jewelry line! Between Nick and I, we had the Fish family covered (because no one else was around!).
Me: Who in your family’s the cook, you or your wife?
Janko: My wife. I can not make a single…
Me: So you’ve never made a romantic dinner for her?
Janko: No, no, no. Just Chinese takeout.
Me: I love your shoes. Where are they from? [Shoes were red, strappy pumps]
Vera: White and Black, actually.
Me: White House Black Market?
Vera: Yes, something like this.
Me: So you got them here in New York?
Vera: No, not New York, I actually got them in Cincinnati.
Me: You just announced a partnership with Bumble Bee tuna. How do you make your tuna?
Mardy: Probably just plain, you know. With a little bit of mayonnaise.
Me: Any celery or onions?
Mardy: No, I don’t like that kind of stuff. I don’t like anything to get in the way of the taste. I’m pretty plain.
Me: And what do you put it on? Do you do a wrap? Anything with it?
Mardy: Probably some wheat bread. But I actually like to eat it just solo.
