Call it an upset?: No.3 in the world, a 16-time Grand Slam Champion, was the underdog coming into what was being pegged as an epic match against the No.2-ranked player. In the end, [3] Roger Federer snatched the opportunity to put a stop to [2] Novak Djokovic’s winning streak, defeating the Serb 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. Federer said after, “At the end it was a bit mental. It was a great match from both sides. Honestly, I was confident; I knew I was going to close this out.”
Czech it out: Czech team Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka upset [7] Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina to win the French Open Women’s Doubles title. It’s the first Grand Slam title of any kind for the pair.
Vergeer The Great: Esther Vergeer added to her amazing trophy collection, and winning streak, with wins in the Women’s Wheelchair single and doubles final matches. Vergeer now has 18 Grand Slam singles titles and 19 Grand Slam doubles titles.
Cap’n: It must have been hat day at Roland Garros.

Murraculous Run: I think we can all agree that [4] Andy Murray was no slouch in his match against Nadal, despite his loss. He came into the match suffering from numerous ailments, but lack of confidence wasn’t one of them. His run to the Semifinals at Roland Garros proves he still has what it takes to get himself to hurdle, now he just needs to find what it takes to jump over it. Even Nadal acknowledged Murray’s capabilities, saying “He deserves to win a Grand Slam and in my opinion, he is going to do it.”
Also, Li Na’s best friends on the tour? “I like Kuzzy, Kuznetsova, she’s a nice girl. Jankovic. She talks so loud. You didn’t see her but you can hear the voice.” She also attempts to teach the Road to Roland Garros driver Chinese. He should really stick to driving.
