Looking at this picture, I feel like I’m in a twilight zone or that my time travel machine worked.
But then I realize, nope, it’s 2011, and those are two different players. The guy on the right is one of the greatest tennis players of all time (he was the greatest until some Swiss guy came along), having won 64 ATP titles and 14 Grand Slams.
The guy on the left is a 6 foot 5, 20-year-old Canadian who – some are saying – has the potential to take over the throne once possessed by that guy on the right (Pete Sampras) and currently being possessed by that Swiss guy (Roger Federer) and a Spanish guy (Rafael Nadal).
Speculation aside, I wish I could have been in the room when those two met to see if lightening struck or the earth parted or, like in Freaky Friday, if their bodies swapped personas.
But right, this is tennis, and for Milos, meeting his idol last night for the first time at the SAP Open will be one thing he’ll remember for the rest of his life. And look, he even tweeted it would be!
