In her first public appearance since she announced her retirement, Justine Henin appeared at the Fed Cup tie between Belgium and the United States in Antwerp. With Kim Clijsters, Laurence Courtois, Els Callens and coach Ivo Van Aken, she received part of the Fed Cup trophy which Belgium won in 2001.
“I am happy to be here, even if I would have preferred to be in another way,” Henin said. “The last weeks were difficult. I would like to thank everyone for the bottom of the heart for the support that I received. Even if it is hard, I will try to retain only the positive.”
