ATP No. 9 Fernando Verdasco got some fitness in on court yesterday while he waits for his part in the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament to get underway, but instead with a different kind of ball – a football. He told the ATP World Tour he’s excited for a good start and will try to do “the best as possible.”
“There are many good players in this tournament and it’s going to be very tough not just to win, but even to get to the finals again. But, I’m feeling good and I just came here to try and do my best and try to win the tournament,” he said.
Andy Roddick was also there, having a hit with Radek Stepanek (perhaps swapping marriage stories?) and his friend, Mardy Fish.
