I have nothing against the Nike kit that Tomas Berdych and some others (for example, Ryan Sweeting) have been wearing at the Australian Open. The only unfortunate coincidence is that its bright yellow color so clearly clashes with the bright yellow color of the line judges’ and ball kids’ outfits. Give Berdych one of those funny hats and he could start calling the lines!
In his 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber, Berdych had a rowdy pack of fans cheering him on. I originally called them “The Berdies,” in honor of his last name and the canary-yellow color he’s wearing. But they never seemed to be in the correct order and after seeing them in all their glory, I’m just going to refer to them as “the flock.”
