If I didn’t know better, I would have thought Juan Carlos Ferrero was sitting in a coffee shop doing a crossword puzzle. In reality, the Spaniard is at the Valencia Open autograph booth (hence the picture of him displayed in the background).
Now, normally I would find nothing odd about this picture (besides the fact that there’s no one in it besides Ferrero) but it’s quite odd that he’s at the Valencia Open but isn’t actually playing in the Valencia Open (out due to injuries for the rest of 2010).
On the one hand, I want to be like “Juan. Go take a vacation and get yourself back in shape for 2011.” But on the other hand, I find it endearing that he takes so much pride in his sport and country that he takes time from his time off to support the tournament. Ferrero has also been seen at kids’ day events as well as supporting his compatriots in the stands during their matches.
Nice to see. And just so you didn’t think Juan was a total loser, people actually did show up for autographs:
