Viktor Troicki’s fantastic run in Basel came to an end when fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic defeated him to advance to the finals. Djokovic is looking to defend is title, but will have to get past Roger Federer in the final (Federer defeated Roddick 6-2, 6-4 in his semifinal).
Some interesting statistics: Since the Canadian Masters in 2007, Federer and Djokovic have met 13 times and only in Semifinals and Finals of tournaments. Their head-to-head record (since then) is 7-6, in favor of Federer, but Djokovic took this Basel title from Federer last year, winning the championship match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
The two have practically alternated winning at every match up this year so, if history repeats itself, since Federer won their last meeting in Shanghai, I’m putting my hypothetical money on Nole.
We all know the Swiss crowd will be behind their Swiss hero, so we’re definitely going to have a good match to watch.
