Could the tides be turning? Just last week, we were calling Ana Ivanovic a “One Hit Wonder.” Now, she just defeated top 10 player Victoria Azarenka.
Poor, Vika. It was the luck of the draw for her to have to play Ana in the first round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in Cincinnati, Ohio. Azarenka fought hard but it seems Ivanovic fought harder today.
Could this be the win that propels Ana back to fighting form? Only time will tell. But perhaps this is the win that Ana needed to get her confidence back.
*Ivanovic defeated Azarenka 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 and plays the winner of Yaroslava Shvedova and Alla Kudryavtseva in the next round.
