Bye Bye Silly Bandz: Canadian Polansky Defeated In Toronto

Today we had to bid adieu to our new favorite Canadian pro (and Silly Bandz-wearer) Peter Polansky. We became a fan of Polansky during his match against Austrian Jurgen Melzer where we realized he was wearing Silly Bandz (the latest craze across the globe – if you haven’t heard of it, then you’ve been sleeping).

The Canadian pulled off a huge upset against Melzer, defeating him 7-6, 6-4, becoming a hometown hero, and moving on to the second round to play Romanian Victor Hanescu. Today, he was defeated by Hanescu 6-4, 7-6.

We found it endearing that Polansky not only tweeted back to us that he was, in fact, wearing Silly Bandz, but also which shapes he was wearing (Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck). It takes a real man to wear Silly Bandz, and an ever real-er man to wear Disney character Silly Bandz.

This feisty Canadian, with an affinity for stretchy-plastic accessories, is now on our radar. We’re excited to see what’s next!
