John Isner Wins Longest Tennis Match Ever

Isner def. Mahut, 11 hours and 5 minutes,6-4, 3-6, 6-7(7), 7-6(3), 70-68.

Records were obliterated. Nicolas Mahut had to serve to stay in the match over 60 times. Mohammed Lahyani did not use the restroom for over 7 hours yesterday. Both players are scheduled to play doubles (though luckily not against each other) later this afternoon.

John Isner “won,” but we agree with Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated: “Forget scoreboard; two winners..biut [sic] isner advances” (@jon_wertheim via Twitter)

And hopefully we have not seen the last of Nicolas Mahut … or tennis on the front page of the world’s biggest newspapers, for that matter.
